Hyderabad, October21: Sixty-one percent of high school students suffer from tension headaches due to academic pressures and emotional stress according to the Indian Academy of Neurology. In Hyderabad, neurologists say that they have been seeing a lot of children from Classes 8 to 10 with complaints of headache that is caused by academic pressure.

The University Grants Commission of India, in a recent meeting in which top autonomous colleges of the country participated, has offered University status to two colleges from the city.

Hyderabad, October 21: Eamcet, the most popular entrance test in the state since 1980s for admission to engineering, agriculture and medical courses, is gradually losing its relevance and importance with each passing year. With over 1 lakh Engineering seats going vacant in merit quota alone consecutively for the last two years, the quessstion of whether there is a need to conduct Eamcet anymore is being debated among officials and academicians.

The University Grants Commission announces holding of the National Eligibility Test (NET) on 29th December 2013 (Sunday) for determining the eligibility of Indian nationals for the Eligibility for Assistant Professor only or Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) and Eligibility for Assistant Professor both in Indian universities and colleges. UGC will conduct NET in 79 subjects including Santali new subject (listed under item no. 9) at 84 (Eighty Four, including five new centres) selected NET Coordinating Institutions (listed under Item no. 10) spread across the country.

SCRA Exam 2014 – A Great Avenue for Mechanical Engineering Aspirants : The Special Class Railway Apprentices (SCRA) Exam 2014 to be conducted by the UPSC every year is one of the toughest exams among the aspirants due to its dual nature of offering an esteemed graduation degree and a highly deserving job in railways. The candidates on clearing the two stage entrance exam undergo a four-year rigorous training programme in Mechanical Engineering and on successful completion of the course get a BE degree in Mechanical Engineering from BITS, Mesra, Ranchi. Indian Railway Institute of Mechanical and Electrical Engineering (IRIMEE) has a Memorandum of Understanding with BIT, Mesra, for awarding the degrees.

The exam schedule for JEE (Advanced) 2014 has been announced, which is an entrance test for admission to the undergraduate programs in Engineering, Architecture and Sciences at all IITs and ISM Dhanbad. 

The first part of the exam i.e. JEE (Mains) 2014 is scheduled on 6 April and the second part of the Joint Entrance Examination i.e. JEE (Advanced) 2014 is scheduled on 25 May.

Eligibility

Top 1,50,000 (including all categories) attendants in the merit list of JEE (Mains) 2014 (Paper -1) will be eligible to write JEE (Advanced) 2014.
